Heaven On Earth Part 1

I believe in the power of an idea.

If an idea is believed, lived out and passed on, that one idea can totally transform the world.

So, here’s my idea.

Instead of just trying to get to Heaven when you die, how about creating Heaven on Earth when you are alive?

Instead of just trying to avoid Hell when you die, how about helping others get out of their living Hell here on Earth?

Yes, the afterlife is important. In fact, where you end up in eternity is extremely important. But, is that all we care about?

How about right here, right now?

How about making our one short life count in the present?

Can you imagine if every single person on planet earth begins to think like this?

Can you imagine if we start to pool our time, energy and resources to bring Heaven to Earth?

So, where do we start?

First, look around you. Where do you find Hell on Earth?

Next, ask yourself, what does Heaven on Earth look like?

Then, spend some time thinking – How can I bring Heaven on Earth?

Share your thoughts with me in the comment section below.

In Part 2, we’ll talk more about Hell on Earth.

Back To Drugs

After more than 5 years, I’m finally taking drugs again.

Towards the end of 2007,  I made a radical change of direction in my lifestyle.

It was based on my belief that our body was created to heal itself. The reason why we get sick is because our immune system is weak and is unable to deal with the attacks from bacteria, viruses and everything else.

Major change number 1 was moving to a predominantly vegetarian diet. A topic for another day.

Major change number 2 was deciding to no longer rely on drugs.  And consequently, no longer going to see a GP (doctor) whenever I felt sick.

Of course, for serious problems like back pain and issues with my ear, I would see a doctor. I’m talking about your usual bouts of flu and infections.

Why?

Well, generally, with western medicine, the approach is often to just deal with symptoms. The drugs attack the symptom, not cure the problem.

For example, Panadol might take away the pain of my headache but it won’t remove the tumor that is causing my headache!

Also, in Malaysia, doctors always prescribe antibiotics whether you need them or not. Not only does it harm you, it makes the bacteria more resilient!

Why would I want to pump these chemicals into my body?

I need a really good reason before taking drugs. Like the time when I had a tooth infection. If I didn’t take antibiotics and the infection spread, I could die!

So, for the past 5 years, I have been relying on natural remedies whenever I get sick. As long as I can strengthen my immune system, my body can heal itself.

So, I always joke that when people get sick, they will go to the clinic. When I get sick,  I go to the supermarket!

Well, I’ve been sick for the past few weeks and I’ve been travelling a lot so I’ve not been able to do my usual juicing.

A few days ago, I had such a bad cough, I thought maybe I caught TB from the country I just came back from!

Exercising wisdom, I finally went to see the doctor to get the usual dosage of antibiotics, cough mixture and lozenges.

As a result, I was reminded of another reason why I dislike these drugs. They make me drowsy!

So, for the past few days, I’ve been so unproductive. I felt like a zombie wandering around my house looking for brains to eat. Don’t worry, my wife is still of sound mind!

Honestly, there is another story behind my recent bout of sickness.

Towards the end of last year, I was just looking back on 2013 thinking that it has been my healthiest year. I haven’t been sick for an entire year!

I was feeling proud of myself that all the years of watching my diet has finally paid off.

When I was thinking this, I suddenly felt cold. Oh no. David, you’re going to pay for this.

Sure enough. 4 days before 2013 ended, I got sick!

That’s when I discovered that PRIDE is a much bigger sickness than flu bugs and bacteria!

Cafe David Is Back!

The original Cafe David blog was started in 2005! Wow! Seriously? Has it been that long?

It eventually spun off 2 books on relationships.

With the advent of Twitter and Facebook, blogging was no longer as popular as before.

So why am I blogging again? Because I have a lot of things to discuss with you!

The original intent of Cafe David was an online space where we could all hang out and talk about everything under the sun. We had some pretty good conversations then.

This is my hope for Cafe David in 2014 and beyond: to spark off some meaningful conversations about life, love, faith and everything else!

Come back and visit often!
